Many have viewed with growing
alarm the actions of a runaway Republican administration in
Washington. We have a president who continues to act more like a
Central American Generalissimo than an elected official, as he
abrogates more and more power unto himself. And all the time he
is quietly assuring us that he "has the authority to do this."
You almost wonder if, at some point, Presidente Bush will seek
to dethrone the Almighty because someone in his administration
has assured him that he has the authority to do it.
Even in the South, the Republicans' strongest base, there
are rumblings among good Southern conservatives as they view
with concern his continued power grabs.
Walter D. Kennedy, co-author with his brother Ron, of the
best selling book "The South Was Right" as well as several
others, has formed an exploratory committee to consider the
possibility of running for president in 2008. He sees major
problems with the Republican Party as presently constituted. He
has written: "After seventy-five years of Republican failure it
is now obvious that we must change the Republican Party if we
are ever to correct the growth of government and the loss of
liberty. Jeffersonian Republicans, that is, southern
conservative Republicans, must force a change in the GOP, and
therefore America if we hope to reduce the size, scope and power
of big Brother government." And don't think you'll get any help
from the Democrats in that area. They are every bit as enamoured
of the power of big government as the Republicans.
Kennedy (Donnie to those who know him) noted Robert E.
Lee's accurate comments when he said that with the loss of
states rights the central government would become "aggressive
abroad and despotic at home." Can anyone deny that this is where
we are at presently?
Viewing this current situation, Donnie has noted: "With
that in mind, I have determined to launch an exploratory
committee, searching for a number of fellow Southerners who will
be willing to stand with me as we take our message of liberty to
our fellow Southerners who are being held hostage by the Party
of Lincoln. For the past 40 years Southerners have been told
that if we voted GOP our rights would be protected, yet, in that
time we have seen our people subjected to increasing amounts of
federal court orders, edicts, regulations, and ever-increasing
amounts of taxation. During this time the GOP has stood by and
allowed our enemies to attack and destroy our noble heritage and
on many occasions even joined with the NAACP in that attack.
Enough is enough!"
And so Donnie Kennedy is forming this committee and has
determined to carry this fight to the Republican primaries. For
those interested in his platform please check out

plans to run on. I couldn't find anything there I disagreed
with.
Naturally, Donnie will need some financial backing because
political campaigns, unfortunately, cost big money today.
However, as you look out there and see the likes of John McCain
or possibly Newt Gingrich being touted as Republican hopefuls
you must realize we need to do something. Most of these guys
running currently are nothing more than big government retreads.
Donnie Kennedy brings a breath of fresh air to the process--an
ordinary man seeking to help ordinary people--what a novelty in
today's political climate.
